About Us
Rose Creek Mine was established in 1952 and has been one of the most frequented tourist attractions in Macon County ever since. Offering both unsalted and enhanced options as well as mining tours, Rose Creek Mine truly has something for everyone.


What We Offer
When you arrive at the mine you will have the option to select whichever experience best suites you and your family.
Our 130 foot flume line is fully covered with seating for comfortable mining in the rain or shine. There are two picnic areas and one is covered.
We have a clean accessible restroom on site.
We have a terrific rock and gift shop with lots of excellent local and international gems and minerals to round out your collection. We carry rockhounding and lapidary supplies. Gem Dirt to Go is also available.
A recent addition to our mine is our Geode Cracking table. we carry a fantastic selection of geodes that you are able to choose from during your visit.
End of Visit
At the end of your visit you can bring the gems you found up to the front porch to have them all identified and individually bagged so you know exactly what you found when you get home!
Gem mining is a great field trip option for school groups, summer camps, church groups, scout troops, senior citizen groups and others. We have an educational programs that will fit your needs. Scouts can work on their geology achievements and badges.
